Windows 7: IE now is a users’ choice

We are used to it for so many years; it is like paying the VAT with a purchase, but how would it feel if paying the VAT is left to the choice of the person who is paying?

MicroSoft has done something similar; Internet Explorer 8 is no more a compulsory thing and Windows 7 build 7048 thus escapes the EU allegations.

All it shall take to send IE8 to hibernation is unchecking an option during installation of the operating system.  Otherwise, you may go to the Control Panel, click on the Programs and Features, turn the Windows features on/off from the left sidebar, wait for the list to load and uncheck Internet Explorer 8. Click OK and reboot. The machine will reboot to configure things newly and again afterwards to let the new settings run. The process simply deletes iexplore.exe and all references to IE from the OS instead of keeping it from loading, a flaw that can be expected to be rectified in future.

So in a nutshell, let’s act as the customer support and answer the questions:

 1.    Can IE8 be completely removed? – Yes
 2.    Heard that Win 7 is a polished Vista; doesn’t that make IE 7 an integral part of it? – Apparently Yes, but now, No.

Now, question remains, how far EU shall stay satisfied with it? For anyway, IE8 is coming bundled with the OS and the issues of anti-trust stands on this ground. And what are the next packages that shall attract their wrath? That is the current nightmare of all the consumers, who are least bothered about a fair competition. Anyway more and more number of people are switching over to Firefox by choice and such decisions are very likely to create further complications for users who are not so tech-savvy.
